Fun And Fact

As a qualified Piano Teacher I offer piano lessons to people from all backgrounds, of all ages, and from beginner to advanced. Lessons don't have to be about passing examinations. I have found people learning later in life often just want to enjoy music and the thrill of creating music without the pressure of reaching set levels.

Location, Location, Location

I work within the Dartford and Gravesham area as a peripetetic teacher. Pupils often find they prefer me to come to them. It cuts on cost and time. You will need a keyboard in your own home. Even though I have a mobile electric piano which pupils enjoy using, your future progress would be greatly frustrated by not being able to practice between lessons.

Examination Texts

I use Eric Taylors music Theory in Practice and associated texts published by The Associated Board Of The Royal School Of Music for examinations.

Learning Process

All lessons are led by the needs of the individual. So no two are alike! But they are based on assessment of a pupils strengths and weaknesses; prior knowledge and understanding and the pupils own goals. As an example, for an absolute beginner, areas we would cover would be:

• Introduction to musical notation
• Note recognition
• Finger Dexterity
• Sound Dynamics
• Sight Reading

Lessons

Lessons usually last between half and one hour. I notice pupils find homework a useful element to learning. Also for younger pupils I offer a communication book so parents can comment on progress if they wish.
